dayskipper4aCongratulations go to James Danton-Rees, Stuart Ford, Chris Russell and Caroline Manuel(not in photo) who have just successfully completed their Competent Crew or Day Skipper practical, and many thanks to their Skipper Instructor Mike wise for his work during the week.

Well done to another class of Day Skipper shorebased students who also have the opportunity for a free day sail at the end of their course, and we were so blessed with lovely sunny and even warm weather/  What more can one ask.  OK the fog could have lifted a bit earlier but it was great and well done to those taking part.

RYA Practical Courses

Everyone has an area of their sailing that could do with some extra practice.

This course is ideal for anyone planning to charter our yachts or hasn’t sailed for a while or would like to refresh their knowledge and brush up on some skills.

During the Day Skipper Skills Course you will spend the two days onboard covering all parts of the RYA Day Skipper course, so is great for newly qualified skippers and well as those who haven’t sailed for a while.

The price includes the yacht and instructor but not food, fuel or mooring fees which are shared with the crew.

A highly recommended course

4 Day Mile Building CruiseOnly £270 – NEW !

DSCF2066 (2)This is a 4 day cruise where the crew decide where to go, plan the passage and take us there!
This course is a great way for skippers to expand their experience, perhaps with a view to complete your Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster and need to gain some extra miles and passages.
Whether cross channel to Cherbourg or down to Plymouth,  after first having looked the weather and tides, your experienced club Instructor will help you pull together a passage plan to get you there!  Or you can just come along for the ride and get some miles under your belt.
The price includes the yacht and instructor, but not food or mooring fees which are shared between the crew.
15th – 19th May 2016

Helicopter Rescue

This is the course which we hope will never be needed but has the potential to save your life.

It involves some classroom work as well as a session in a swimming pool getting familiarised with liferafts, lifejackets and other emergency equipment and procedures.

It is compulsory for all instructors and other commercial skippers.

Until you’ve tried it the experience of being in the water with a lifejacket and clothing cannot be properly understood, nor can the level of difficulty involved in getting from the water into a liferaft.

We often talk about flares and sometimes glibly refer to the instructions. You’ll be quite surprised to experience letting them off for real and please, don’t try this at home!
