Never been on the water? Want to learn to sail or expand your knowledge and skills. We can provide a course to suit your individual needs.

If you have never sailed before or have some experience and would like to further your qualifications, guidance can be sought from exploring the courses page or by calling the club line on 07920-799270 and having a chat about what we can provide.

We are recognised by the Royal Yachting Association as a teaching establishment for both Practical and Theory Sailing Courses.

We enjoy a very high reputation with them for offering varied training opportunities at exceptionally competitive prices that we offer exclusively to our members.

The MPSC offer a range of RYA Practical sailing and Shorebased courses, from  Competent Crew and Day Skipper to Yachtmaster Coastal, Yachtmaster Coastal Yachtmaster Offshore.

These are complemented by a range of one day RYA courses which are held in central London and also at our Broadway base classrooms.  They include Sea Survival, RADAR, First Aid and Diesel Engine Courses.

We now also offer Online Courses, SRC VHF, Essential Navigation & Seamanship, Professional Practices & Responsibilities (PPR) & CEVNI.

Tuition is provided by our highly experienced club instructors, all of whom have gained experience and expertise through the opportunities provided by the club.

The MPSC is based in Hamble right on the doorstep of the Solent, which is recognised as one the finest training areas in the world and providing the perfect sailing environment for RYA training.

To charter one of the club yachts, you need to be a minimum of Day Skipper Practical and hold an SRC VHF certificate.

This also opens up the world as you can also charter abroad from Greece to the Caribbean as you can apply for an ICC, (International Certificate of Competence) from the RYA, upon completion of you Day Skipper Course.

    Our one-day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.

    Come and have fun whilst learning and gaining a useful qualification.

    This two day practical course is entirely boat based. There is no fixed route, and passage planning based on weather forecasts will form part of
    the course. You can expect to explore a variety of locations in and around the Solent and
    experience anchoring up, berthing in a marina and picking up a mooring buoy.
