Our courses afloat are complemented by our programme of Theory Courses. We offer a wide range of courses delivered in intensive five days to weekend and evening courses. 

These are held either in central London or in our classrooms at the Broadway base in Hamble.

One Day Navigation Course – NEW for 2018!!


This bespoke Day Skipper plus course is designed for those who wish to extend their knowledge outside of the Solent.

This theory workshop covers pilotage and cross channel navigation. 

The course is being held at Imber Court & spaces are limited, so please book early.

RYA Day Skipper Theory Course

The RYA Day Skipper Course is an elementary course that covers basic seamanship, navigation and meteorology and is suitable for beginners and students with little or no experience. 

Unless you have extensive experience, we recommend that you complete this course prior to taking the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course

We run the course in three formats:

Evening Classes

We’ve not managed to get sufficient support for our evening classes this year so they will be postponed till  autumn 2018.  They consist of twelve Tuesday evenings, (1830-2100) and one full weekend session,  ending in mid December.

Weekend Course

We currently have no weekend courses planned for 2018.  If you are interested in this format then please contact us to express your interest and we will arrange dates if there is the demand.

Intensive 6 Day Courses    £295 – INCLUDES ONE DAY SAILING !!

Our intensive six day course is a residential course that is held in our new classroom facility at the Broadway base in Hamble. The price includes shared accommodation and the last day includes 1 day sailing with your instructor on the Thursday.

RYA Yachtmaster Coastal / Offshore Theory Course

This is a more advanced course in navigation and meteorology, suitable for students who have already completed the Day Skipper shorebased course, or who have a background of cruising or offshore racing experience.

We recommend that you complete this course before taking the Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster Coastal Practical Course.

This course is definitely not suitable for beginners.

Weekend Course £299

We have one course planned for 2018, at Imber Court, East Molesey. 

The course is from 0900 – 1700 each day.     Full training packs are provided.

You have to attend all the dates to complete the course.

RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory Course 

This is a course in astro navigation and world wide meteorology.

A knowledge of terrestrial navigation and basic meteorology up to the standard of the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster shorebased course is assumed.

    This two day practical course is entirely boat based. There is no fixed route, and passage planning based on weather forecasts will form part of
    the course. You can expect to explore a variety of locations in and around the Solent and
    experience anchoring up, berthing in a marina and picking up a mooring buoy.
