Yachtmaster Coastal/ Offshore Prep & MCA/ RYA Exam
Course Duration:
7 Days, (5 day prep course + 2 Day RYA/MCA Exam)
0900 Monday-Sunday
Previous Experience:
50 days at sea,
2,500 miles including at least 5 passages over 60 miles measured along the rhumb line from the port of departure to the destination, acting as skipper for at least two of these passages and including two which have involved overnight passages. 5 days experience as skipper.
NOTE, THE ABOVE IS A MINIMUM MORE THE BETTER.
In addition you must hold:
VHF SRC
RYA First Aid or qualification recognised by RYA
YM Theory

Ability After Course:
Ability to charter club yacht up to 60 miles from a safehaven.
Preparation for the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence. Advanced skippering techniques, close quarters handling under both power and sail, navigation and pilotage by day and night, man overboard recovery and overall yacht management skills.

£700 + RYA exam fee payable direct.

This is an advanced seven day on board intensive course. The aim is to hone the skills and techniques required to skipper a cruising yacht safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night.
The RYA Yachtmaster qualification is recognised and respected around the world & is the ultimate aim of many skippers, both professional and recreational.
This is designed to prepare you for examination by an independent RYA examiner for the award of a DoT certificate for Yachtmaster Offshore.
7 day course (5 days of prep plus up to 2 days for exam)
0900 Monday until approximately 1600 the following Sunday
Crews will meet and finish at the Broadway base, Mercury Yacht Harbour, Hamble
• Skippering skills
• Boat handling
• General seamanship
• Navigation
• Safety awareness
• Knowledge of the IRPCS (collision regulations)
• Meteorology and signals
Wet weather gear, safety equipment, fuel and accommodation on board the yacht.
All food and mooring cost are shared between the crew.
You will be set tasks to demonstrate your ability and may also be asked questions on any part of the syllabus for all practical and shorebased courses up to Yachtmaster™ Offshore level.
